Object-Oriented techniques,together with the UML,have emerged as
the standard for modern software design, development and deployment.
Consequently all key staff working within these areas need to have
some understanding of them. However, not all staff need the same
level of detail, nor do they all have the same range of interests.
We provide a suite of UML and OO training courses aimed at these
different needs.
For the Project Manager, we offer "UML
for Project Managers (057)", a one or two day course showing
how the UML is used throughout an OO project and how the project
scheduling and planning is supported by the UML. This is linked
to estimation techniques and Product Based Planning (as defined
within PRINCE2). In fact, as we are PRINCE2 approved, we explain
how this technology is used within a PRINCE2 project. For management
courses in particular, PRINCE2 context maybe very important for
many customers. However, we can also provide PRINCE2 context for
most of the courses listed below.
For the Business Analyst, we focus on the use of the UML
as a Business Analysis technique and a requirements capture technique,
showing how Business Use Cases are related to Requirements, how
to produce complete and unambiguous requirements, how to write Business
and System Use Cases, and how the Use Cases relate to OO analysis
and design. This training is provided by three or four-day courses,
see "Requirements with the
UML(059)".
For Developers, we provide in-depth end-to-end training
across the complete project lifecycle in the use of the UML to provide
a path from Requirements Capture and Analysis into Design and Deployment,
with three, four or five-day courses "UML
for Software Development (021)". These courses cover OO and
UML in extensive detail, the longer courses using a variety of Case
Studies to provide experience of advanced design and modelling techniques.
The longer versions of this course also embed Enterprise Architect
as a training vehicle .. see "UML
for Software Development using Enterprise
Architect (061)"
Since Use Cases are such a fundamental technique (and not necessarily
bound to the UML) we provide a course dedicated to the design and
production of Use Cases, "Writing
and Using Effective Use Cases(073)". Since the audience for
Use Cases can be very wide, the audience for this two-day course
is also correspondingly wide, ranging from managers to analysts
to developers to testers. This is a fundamental course for all staff
involved in dealing with requirements and quality. We also provide TopTeam and Visual Use Case training for organisations using these tools for their UML support. Please contact us to discuss these tools within our training courses.
Finally, for those staff that simply need an overview of UML and
OO (to what we call a "non-blink" level) we provide a variety of
shorter courses and seminars, "Introduction
to OO Design and Development"(060)","Overview
of OO Analysis, UML and Design(037)" and "Introduction to the
UML 2(020)"
The majority of courses are provided for specific "in-house" training.
It is quite normal for us to modify these courses to special requirements
for a customer, This has included designing a Case Study to reflect
the actual industry of the client, including specialised technology
(e.g. real-time features), mix'n match content for mixed-skills
audiences and so on. If you have specialised training needs please
contact us to discuss them. If there are any questions on the content
please do not hesitate to ask us.
