Descriptions |
This course is aimed at DBA staff with experience in databases
other than Oracle and who are about to take on responsibility
for an Oracle database. This course builds on that experience
to provide effective and economic training in Oracle DBA techniques.
By assuming some familiarity with databases from the outset, this
2-day course is the most efficient way of introducing Oracle to
your DBA staff.

- Understand the Oracle 9i / 10g architecture components
- Be familiar with the tools and utilities of 9i
- Manage Users, Roles and Profiles effectively
- Be able to create, maintain and configure a database
- Understand the data backup / recovery strategy of Oracle
- Understand how to use SQL*PLUS
- Understand Oracle Listener and how to configure and debug it
- Understand Oracle storage management systems
- Be able to tune and analyze SQL statements

Prerequisites

- DBA experience in supporting a major RDBMS such as Sybase, MS
SQL Server, DB2, MySQL

The course provides many examples of the use of database design
techniques and reliable methods of working with large amounts
of data. Delegates will receive copies of the files used to demonstrate
database technology as well as the student guide.
