This course presents the SQL language, its basis and current
versions. Delegates will learn how to declare tables and how to
write effective SQL statements to query, update, delete and insert
records into a relational database. Efficiency issues and tuning
aspects of Query writing are covered. The course also shows how
Microsoft Access can be linked (via Pass through Query) to RDBMS.
Transact SQL (T-SQL) is included so that delegates will understand
when this powerful language should be used in Stored procedures
or Triggers and sensible applications.
Basic administration operations are covered, for those organization
operating with minimal DBA support. Topics including user-management,
backup and recovery are covered.
The host database for this course can be selected from MySQL
5.0 and later, Oracle9i or 10g, or MS SQL Server 2000/2005 and
there are extensive exercises provided for each.
