George is the founder / owner of Oak Lodge Consulting.
He is the driver behind the activities which you will have read
about already. He works together with selected associates around
the country to deliver high quality services to his clients. He
is married with two children and lives near Cambridge.
Below is a very short summary of his professional
background and career
George has an Hons. Degree in Mathematics and started
work in compiler technology for ICL.
In 1970 he joined Computer Sciences Corp. to develop a language,
compiler and operating system for a military project with the Dutch
Navy. Following that he worked on mainframe operating systems and
language systems at Philips in Apeldoorn, Holland.
In 1975 he went to work in Siemens in Munich on mainframes
with CSC. Over a period of nearly 12 years he became an authority
on software technology and management, on mainframes, UNIX and PC
systems, developing major applications on all platforms, including
compilers, windowing systems, application generators, and providing
consultancy in product selection and evaluation..
In 1980 he founded his own company, Pentacom Computer
Systeme GmbH and developed a team of consultants working primarily
in Munich for Siemens AG and Nixdorf.
Returning to the UK in 1986 as founding General Manager
for Siemens new Software Development Group, he grew the department
to 90 staff. During this period Nixdorf merged with Siemens and
he acquired responsibility for Application Development, covering
clients such as Tesco, Boots, SuperDrug and Esso.
After 8 years in the role of General Manager at Siemens
and later Siemens Nixdorf, he founded Oak Lodge Consulting to provide
consultancy and training services to providers of IT products.
Based near Cambridge and benefiting from the high-tech
environment, Oak Lodge Consulting prides itself on being abreast
of the key elements for today's successful software projects. George
is particularly interested in the OO / UML evolution, development
technology and IDEs, Databases, SDLCs and the total effect on Project
Management strategies. He has acquired PRINCE2™ Approved Trainer
qualification and has developed adaptations of PRINCE2 for real-world
IT projects, including Waterfall and Agile models. Pattern technology
as applied to IT development and management is a current theme.
In his spare time he programs, builds computers,
amplifiers and the odd (very) large loudspeaker system
